De methoden voor de bepaling van de toegevoegde waarde verschillen in Vlaanderen en Nederland (zie indicator ‘socio-economisch belang van de havens’[12]). Het samentellen van de gegevens is hier enkel gebeurd om een idee te krijgen van de grootteorde van de verhouding tussen de kostprijs van onderhoudsbaggerwerken en de toegevoegde waarde.
