| The institute has expertise on: maritime archeological heritage in the broadest sense, i.e. including land-based activities connected to the sea (lighthouses, harbours, smoking of fish,...). History of fisheries and coastal settlements. Sea-organisms from the past (medieval fish populations, diatom communities,...). Soil characteristics and geology of the polders. |
