Expertise
The PhD research of Jens Boyen comprises using transcriptomics and population genomics to resolve questions regarding gene expression and evolutionary adaption of harpacticoid copepods towards future climate change scenarios. He will focus on the genes that are involved in the copepod’s ability to bioconvert omega-3 fatty acids. Jens has a BSc degree in Biology from the University of Leuven (Belgium), as well as the International MSc degree in Marine Biodiversity and Conservation (EMBC+). His MSc thesis was on the phylogeny and population structure of the commercially exploited Atlantic seabob shrimp Xiphopenaeus kroyeri.
