Abstract |
*Ollevier:
Recent studies enlight the importance of parasites in marine and estuarine eco-systems. Knowledge on non-human tropical parasites is poor. The study will emphasize primarily on the partial inventarisation of fish parasites on the Kenyan coast. A study on population dynamics of frequently encountered marine fish parasites will be carried out with special attention for emphasis on helmint parasites.
*Polk:
The importance of coastal areas as an input for organic material to open sea is a controversial problem. The impact of new versus recycled production is unknown for these areas.
*Schockaert:
A first part of the project consists in study of mangroves : vegetation, pollination, detritus conversion, meiobenthos. The second important partconsists of taxonomy of algae, various parasites and meiofauna taxa. The group at the LUC is mainly involved with the study of free living and symbiotic Plathelminthes. |
