Abstract
The assignment includes an investigation to determine the wave climate of the Belgian Coast. With that, it is the intention to calculate the wave characteristics close to the coasts, departing from the measurements (buoy data from Hydro Meteo system) and/or model data (calculated with WAM) available from further out the coast. To model the wave propagation in the coastal zone (considered here as a strip parallel with the coast, stretching seaward to Westhinder), the spectral model SWAN is used.
