Abstract |
This project is funded by Hydralab+ project from Horizon 2020 program. 7 research organizations are involved in the HyWEdges (Hydrodynamics at coastal Wetland Edges) project. The motivation of this project is summarized as follows. Coastal wetlands provide important ecosystem services for coastal protection. Together with their ability to adapt to sea-level rise through aggradation and progradation, these services have led to increased interest in the use of coastal wetlands for defence against coastal flooding. Despite, little is known about the dynamics of coastal wetland progradation under the effect of combined waves and currents. To understand progradation further information is required on wetland edge processes, and thus a physical model will be conducted. |
