Abstract
The aims of the project are threefold : 1. To study the biogeography of species of seaweeds and echinoderms present along the coasts of the former "Transkei" (Eastern cape) to northern Kwazulu-Natal. 2. To document the dominant species in communities, with particular regard to current and potential economic species. 3. To collaboorate with other groups working on intertidal resources and marine biogeography, to provide taxonomic assistance.
Bilateral scientific and technological co-operation with the University of Cape Town - Botany Department, Southern Afrika. Co-promoted by Bolton John.
