Abstract
The main interest lies in the present and past evolution of bottom currents on the Eastern slope of the Porcupine Seabight. For this study, a multitude of tools will be used:

1) Very high-resolution single-channel sparker seismics
2) Multi-channel industrial seismics
3) Very high-resolution sidescan sonar imagery
4) Swath bathymetry as well as subbottom profiling
5) Geophysical, sedimentological, micropaleontological and isotopic analyses of giant piston cores
6)This research frames within a broad cluster of international projects. The most important of these projects are situated within the Ocean Margin Cluster of the European Commission Fifth Framework Programme: GEOMOUND, ECOMOUND and STRATAGEM.
