Abstract
Pasteurella piscicida is a marine pathogen that is responsible for high economic losses in the culture of seabass and seabream
in the Mediterranean and yellowtail in Japan. Until recently there has been no efficient vaccin against pasteurellosis, the fish disease caused by P. piscicida.
This research aims:
to construct a bacterial collection that contains Pasteurella piscicida strains isolated from different geographical areas and the main affected fish species;
to gain more information about the epidemiology and taxonomy of P. piscicida and;
to study the virulence mechanism of the pathogen.
