Abstract
The goal of this project is the mapping of the distribution of the silt fraction (<63µm) in the tidal flats of the Westerschelde, The Netherlands, by analysing Landsat 7 ETM satellite data. For calibration and verification of the results, an in-situ data set of 300 sediment samples is used. Two different methods are applied and compared in order to retrieve the silt content from the satellite data: a Supervised Classification and a Linear Spectral Unmixing. After the analysis of the satellite data, an error estimation of the results has been performed.
