This platform provides information and knowledge about the Flanders Hydraulics' areas of expertise in 'hydraulics and sediment', 'harbours and waterways', 'hydraulic structures', 'water management' and 'coastal protection' - ranging from Flanders Hydraulics' employees with their expertise, the curriculum of this institution, to publications, projects, data (in the long term) and events in which Flanders Hydraulics is involved.

In order to respond to new challenges faced by the IODE Programme, an “IOC Project Office for IODE” has been established in Oostende, Belgium, with substantial support from the Government of Flanders (Belgium) and City of Ostend (http://www.iode.org/projectoffice/). Details of the Project Office creation are provided in the report to IODE-18 (Document IOC/IODE-XVIII/12). With the opening of the IOC Project Office for IODE on 25 April 2005, the IODE programme entered a new era of capacity building and ocean data/information services.
