This platform provides information and knowledge about the Flanders Hydraulics' areas of expertise in 'hydraulics and sediment', 'harbours and waterways', 'hydraulic structures', 'water management' and 'coastal protection' - ranging from Flanders Hydraulics' employees with their expertise, the curriculum of this institution, to publications, projects, data (in the long term) and events in which Flanders Hydraulics is involved.
Het huidige kustbeleid is ervoor gekozen om het kustsysteem (kustfundament plus Waddenzee en Westerschelde) te laten meegroeien met de zeespiegel door middel van suppleties met zand. Het benodigde suppletievolume voor het meegroeien wordt op dit moment bepaald door het oppervlak hiervan te vermenigvuldigen met de zeespiegelstijging. Een toename van de zeespiegelstijging heeft dan ook grote consequenties voor de toekomstige suppletiehoeveelheid. De vraag van deze studie is dan ook met hoeveel zeespiegelstijging nu en in de komende jaren rekening moet worden gehouden en welke definitie en schattingsmethode daarbij moet worden gebruikt.
