Abstract
The purpose of this study is to show some of the environmental characteristics of a massive stranding by over 180 False killer whales (Pseudorca crassidens) occurred on March 1989 in different localities in the Strait of Magallanes, between Shoal Bay (52°55'S; 70°59'W) and Lomas Bay (52°35'S; 69°14'W). While this phenomenon was taking place, an emergency plan was elaborated to rescue the remaining specimens and twelve animals were saved.
