Abstract
A new abyssal sp of Dicopia is described. The considerable development of the buccal siphon permits the capture of small Crustacea. This method of feeding is supplemented by the filtration of water by the gills. The anatomical study of this sp permits a new interpretation of the Octacnemidae. 7 genera, classed into 3 families, are rearranged within the Octanemidae sensu nov. This abyssal family, highly specialized, shows a growing adaptation to the capture of prey, linked to the transformation of the buccal siphon into a prehensile apparatus and to the proportional reduction of the gill. The Octacnemidae are placed in the Phlebobranchiata, next to the Cionidae.
