Abstract
An experiment is described in which plaice larvae were hatchery reared to metamorphosis at temperatures corresponding to those found concurrently in the southern North Sea. The arbitrary developmental stages recognized for plaice larvae are defined and their mean durations determined. Development proceeds together with growth in length and in weight, and all were clearly related to age in this experiment.
