Abstract
    The Oligo-pleistocene phreatic aquifer system of the region near Assenede and Boekhoute has been partly affected by the last marine transgression (Dunkirk IIIb), with resulting salinization. The geographical extension of this phenomenon has been determined by geo-electrical sounding prospection.
