Myrionema liechtensternii Hauck described in 1877 after material from the Adriatic has never been mentioned since. We found it several times while assorting phytosociological relevés from Port-Cros (Var) and Banyuls (Pyrénées Orientales, France). By this fact it becomes a new species for the French algological flora.
