Abstract |
The Japanese oyster drill Ocinebrellus inornatus is a small sea snail native to the northwestern part of the Pacific Ocean. The species was first detected in French waters in 1995 and was found in the Netherlands in 2007. To date, no specimens have been found in Belgium. The species was introduced to Europe through shellfish transport from North America, a region where it was previously colonised. The Japanese oyster drill can thrive within a wide range of temperature and salinity levels and exhibits great flexibility in its choice of prey. |
