Abstract
    Twenty three Holothurians species from the lagoon and t he reefs of New Caledonia are described. Six are new for science : Actinopyga albonigra nov. sp., Bohadschia maculisparsa nov. sp., Holothuria (Mertensiothuria) artensis nov sp., Holothuria (Thymiosycia) altaturricula nov. sp., Holothuria (Thymiosycia) conusalba nov. sp. and Synaptula media nov. sp. The coloration of living specimens is discussed as a taxonomic criterion. A seventh new species, bathyal in origine, Mesothuria sufflava nov. sp., is also described.
