Abstract
The osteology of the "palaeoniscid" Osorioichthys marginis from the Famennian of Belgium is studied in detail. The phylogeny of the Devonian actinopterygians is revised. Osorioichthys appears to be more apomorphic than Dialipina, Cheirolepis and the polypteriforms, and represents the plesiomorphic sister-group of a clade including Howqualepis, Mimia, Moythomasia, Tegeolepis, Stegotrachelus and Kentuckia.
