Abstract
Gustaaf Buffel (1886-1972) was a painter, draftsman and pastellist. He is most known for his realistic seaside paintings and maritime art. Until 1914 he worked as a house painter. After the First World War, Buffel and his wife opened an art store in Nieuwpoort. The couple stayed in Nieuwpoort until 1941 when they moved to Kessel-Lo. His paintings can be found in museums all around Belgium.
