Abstract
Morphological approach: Weathering processes in marine environment are important since they limit organic matter accumulation in sediments and depletion of biogenic elements. Marine biodegradation studies usually concern aerobic sedimentary layers. Despite the fact that anaerobic biodegradation is rarely taken into account, many authors consider biological weathering processes in anoxic sediment to occur slowlier than in oxic zones.
