Detection and explanation of submerged landscapes in the Western Scheldt area: property structures as an obstacle for sutainable development in the Middle Ages?

Abstract
This research project aims to detect and explain the structures of cultural landscapes which have disappeared due to marine sedimentation in the later Middle Ages and the 16th century in the border area of the (Western) Scheldt. New modern techniques wil be used. The focus will be on the influence of (changes in) property structures on the (absence) of sustainable development. This projects fits in an international interdisciplinary research program.
