Abstract
Numerous indicators are used to measure Integrated Coastal Management (ICM) that differ depending on the region or the scale (regional, national, international) for which they are used. The list of ICZM (Integrated Coastal Zone Management) indicators, used in the European context, does not fully coincide with the one used for UNESCO/ICAM (Integrated Coastal Area Management) programme. Until now, for the purpose of an indicator-based analysis of the coast, parameters are generally reported individually without looking at possible relationships. In this research, we tried to integrate different parameters and to look at the correlation between them. For this purpose, a spatial analysis as well as a factorial analysis, linked to a cluster analysis was performed. By analysing the data in the framework of this dissertation, different shortcomings and problems arose concerning the parameters, but also the method of measuring in different countries and the quality of the datasets. Because of this, the task of integrating indicators is a difficult one, although this dissertation attempts to suggest a method by which this can be achieved in a simple way.
