Abstract
A design engineer, working in the field of offshore engineering has to determine stresses, both due to static and dynamic loads, in structures exposed to wind, waves and currents. In some cases model tests, using elastic similarity models will prove to be a useful help in this respect. In the present paper the application of elastic similarity models is elucidated. At first an outline is given on the concepts of flow similarity, elastic similarity and the combination of both, i.e. dynamic similarity. Further some examples are given to the use of elastic models
