Abstract
Final aim of this thesis research lies in the development of a river flood impact model. In particular the case study of the river Dender is examined, in the region upstream of the city of Denderleeuw in Flanders. Special attention is given to a possible future climate change. The used processing method concerning climate change is provided thanks to research project CCI-HYDR.

With fast calculation times as a goal, a conceptual flood model of the river Dender was developed in addition to existing accurate, but time consuming hydrodynamic Dender models. Thanks to that calculation and mapping model an extended set of different scenario’s can be analyzed with certain exactitude within acceptable calculation times. Floods with different return periods, different climate change predictions and different measurement plans determine the total span of the considered scenario’s. Input concerning possible measurements is given by Arcadis in the frame of another project: ADAPT (‘Towards an integrated Decision Tool for Adaptation Measures’)
