Abstract
Water flows are reaerated to a variable extent at hydraulic structures, depending on the discharge mode. After introducing the existing numerical models for quantifying aeration in the axis of both overflow and bottom flow, the authors examine the theoretical modelling of a combined flow which has only seldom been studied in hydraulics or in reaeration.Tests on a physical model showed the great importance of the flow-stream structure on oxygen transfer. The reaeration efficiency of a combined flow is defined by two formulas simulating both the overflow and the combined flow. This study aims mainly at pointing out the consequences of an optimum dam management on the quality of surface waters.
