Abstract |
In october 1994, the hyperbenthos of Gazi Bay was sampled at 38 locations using a hyperbenthic sledge. In order to investigate the spatial diversity patterns, sampling was conducted in as many different habitats as possible. For every sample, all present animals have were previously determined to order level. The hyperbenthic communities of the bay appeared to be diverse. They were dominated by Mysidacea, Amphipoda and Isopoda. The latter order is the subject of this practicum. I have determined all present individuals of each sample at a high taxonomic level and divided them into so called ‘morphospecies’. This way, an overview can be made of how many species are present for each sample and how the individuals are divided over the species. I found representatives of 4 suborders (based on the key on the following page): Valvifera, Flabellifera, Anthuridea en Gnathiidea. |
