Abstract: |
Het Institut des Sciences de la Vie (ISV) verricht biologisch onderzoek met behulp van moleculaire en cellulaire methodes. Het onderzoek wordt toegepast op dieren, planten, micro-organismen en biomoleculen. Binnen de onderzoeksgroep 'Biology of Nutrition and Environmental Toxicology' worden de onderstaande mariene thema's bestudeerd:
- de invloed van polluenten, zoals PCBs, op antioxidant-enzymen in de spieren en lever van diepzeevissen;
- antioxidant mechanismen van dieren in de nabijheid van hydrothermale bronnen en andere diepzeevissen;
- de toxicokinetische en fysiologische effecten van organische contaminanten bij mariene zoogdieren, zoals zeehonden;
- de effecten van meervoudige stress (voeding en vervuiling) in aquatische organismen, van een moleculaire tot een ecosysteembenadering.
