Abstract |
The Zeepipe Project represents one of the most significant offshore pipe laying works ever executed. In Part I (Terra et Aqua, Number 51, May 1993) the dredging works which started in March 1991 were discussed. After completion of the dredging work in July 1991, the backfilling work was begun. Part 11 discusses the backfilling activities in the three primary areas on the Belgian Continental Shelf, i.e., the Scheur, the Wielingen and the Landfall, where the pipe is linked to the shore. All backfilling activities were completed in mid-September, slightly ahead of schedule. Part II of this article is published here for the first time and is based on lectures and presentations given by the authors . |
