De onderzoeksgroep Akoestiek en Trillingen (AVRG) is een toonaangevende onderzoeksgroep die fundamenteel en toegepast onderzoek verricht op het brede gebied van akoestiek en trillingen, met speciale nadruk op de ontwikkeling van geavanceerde test- en monitoringmethodologieën voor toepassingen in de machinebouw (experimentele en operationele modale analyse, schadebeoordeling en structurele gezondheidsmonitoring, conditie- en prestatiemonitoring, modellering en controle van additieve productie, optische meettechnieken).
Sinds 2011 is AVRG de onderzoekscoördinator van het Offshore Wind Infrastructure lab (OWI-lab), een samenwerking tussen UGent, Sirris en VUB. De missie van OWI-lab is het coördineren van onderzoek en ontwikkeling op het gebied van offshore windenergie in Vlaanderen.
Op het vlak van monitoring van offshore windenergie heeft AVRG een pioniersrol gespeeld en leidt het momenteel verschillende onderzoeksprojecten binnen alle Belgische offshore windparken. Zowel door de ontwikkeling van op fysica gebaseerde en gegevensgestuurde modelleringsinstrumenten voor toestandscontrole van de machines als structurele gezondheidscontrole van de funderingen beoogt het onderzoek de operatie- en onderhoudskosten te verminderen, de levensduur te optimaliseren en het ontwerp van offshore structuren te verbeteren. De groep heeft een uitgebreide staat van dienst opgebouwd in het uitvoeren van zowel langlopende als momentane dynamische metingen aan offshore windturbines en schepen. |
