I work as lecturer at the University of Vienna, teaching several invertebrate groups like European copepods, cladocerans and ostracods. I also have a consulting company specialized on systematics of meiofauna and zooplankton. My research on copepods  started during the development of my PhD thesis about Colombian copepods from high Andean lakes and ponds. My area of expertise are freshwater copepods. particularly harpacticoids (Canthocamptidae, Parastenocarididae). Shortly I started to study freshwater Ameriidae. Since 2020 I investigate also copepods from groundwater. Until now I have described 3 genera and 11 species of copepods, ostracods and cladocerans. See www.gaviria.at
