Abstract
    During a sampling campaign with the R/V SONNE on a transect off Concepción, Chile, in 2023, a specimen of the genus Cardiomya was discovered at 912 m water depth. This is the first observation of this genus off the coast of Chile. The specimen is described here as a new species of the genus Cardiomya.
