Abstract
Echinoderms include such familiar animals as starfishes and sea urchins and are an important marine invertebrate group with a good fossil record. Evidence concerning the evolutionary history of this group is currently being drawn from a wide variety of sources. This volume aims to bring together a series of syntheses and reviews covering recent advances in studies on echinoderm evolution. The 26 chapters deal with a variety of topics including molecular biology, biochemistry, developmental biology, comparative anatomy and palaeontology, demonstrating the wealth of different approaches being focused on echinoderm evolution. This volume is published in conjunction with the Liverpool Geological Society and is intended to be of value to a wide variety of biologists and palaeontologists as well as postgraduate students.
