Abstract |
The scope of this dissertation is to investigate the applicability of various available sea- keeping software in shallow water, as this has not yet been extensively investigated in the past (especially in shallow water). This is done by comparing experimental towing tank tests with numerical computer calculations. In chapter 2, necessary theoretical concepts are explained, needed for a full understanding of the topic. Furthermore, various com- puter software are presented and explained. Chapter 3 discusses the shallow water towing tank set-up and proposes an experimental program that will be carried out in the towing tank. Chapter 4 makes an extended discussion of the data recorded during the towing tests and concludes with a discussion of how the various numerical calculation results were obtained. Chapter 5 then makes a comparison between the experimental results and the numerical calculations. Finally, future research possibilities will be recommended. |
